Rooms

The Monastery has 12 bedrooms, each named after a particular wind, reclaimed from the two old dormitories on the first floor in the east and west wings, looking onto the central courtyard. Each of them is appointed with wood furniture, natural fabrics and en suite bathrooms and offer every modern convenience from TV to direct dial telephones.

The Monastery-Fortress of Santo Spirito has been impeccably restored, retaining all the splendours of its past in order to capture the authentic mood and the essence for which it was conceived. It is a place for regeneration, offering a genuine hospitality and warmth to each guest looking for rest and retreat from a busy world in a setting untouched by time.

The twelve bedrooms, reclaimed from the two old dormitories on the first floor, are simple and comfortable. They are appointed with wood furniture, natural fabrics and en suite facilities and offer every modern convenience from TV to direct dial telephones. Guests can enjoy the pleasures of the library and leisure centre. A wi-fi internet connection is also available.

Facilities

The Monastery is also ideally placed for a vast array of activities including guided walks, horse riding, carriage trips and cycling. Moreover, the many stories and events related to the spiritual dimension make this place a particularly suggestive destination for spiritual tourism.

Depending on the seasons, a vast array of local outdoor activities can be arranged: cross country skiing and walking trips with ski sticks, mountain climbing with crampons and ice axe, ski-touring (on Monte Ocre).

Horse riding, carriage, cycling or walking trips along nature trails can also be arranged: Il Grande Sentiero (The Long Nature Track) - 688kb from the Altopiano delle Rocche to that of Campo Imperatore through “le Pagliare”, the valley of Aterno, the Tratturo (cattle-track) and the old town centres on the south side of Gran Sasso.
(On the way, guided tours to the major artistic and naturalistic sites as well as gastronomic routes can be arranged).

Places to Visit

A vast and silent landscape nestled amidst rugged mountains and lush woodlands. Its ancient roads, abbeys, forts, monasteries and the suggestive medieval villages still echo with the footsteps of legendary peoples: the Sabines, the Romans, the Longobards, the Franks, and all those who, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance until the present day, contributed to make these places unique.
