Located in Southern Tuscany, one and a half hours from Rome, half way between Orvieto and Siena, closely bordering with the regions of Umbria and Tuscany, the breathtakingly splendid 17th century castle, Castello di Santa Cristina, (complete with fairytale turret) has been the property of the noble Caterini family for generations.

Over the past ten years, the castle’ s nearby 18th Century ivy-covered farmhouse and out-buildings have been carefully restored to retain their authenticity and developed into 8 self-catering cottages and 14 bedrooms with Bed & Breakfast for guests, furnished with original pieces, can offer you unique country holidays.

A perfect location for family holidays when you can explore the various neigbouring historic towns including Orvieto, Sorano, Acquapendente and Grotte Di Castro. We offer sensational Tuscan cuisine, fantastic cookery courses and unique weddings in the castle grounds. The Castello di Santa Cristina is also an ideal place for horse riding holiday. On our exciting trail excursions, we travel as far as Proceno, Lake Bolsena and to the beautiful nature reserve Selva Del Lamone. Riding lessons is something you should not missed on your holiday with children.

There are 14 B&B double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms within the restored farmhouse. Our apartments are furnished with the original, antique pieces and are infused with the traditional rural style of the Italian countryside.

Beautifully embellished with wooden trusses, these bed and breakfast rooms complete with elegant bathrooms, capture the fairytale atmosphere of Santa Cristina. Each apartment is beautifully lit with spectacular views that our guests find incredibly relaxing.

The rooms may be double or twin upon request. The breakfast will be served in the vaulted ‘taverna’, or you may choose to eat beneath the gazebos on the terrace outside.

During your holiday with us here at the Castle of Santa Cristina, there will always be something to entertain yourself and your family. We offer a wide range of entertaining possibilities and the only problem you may encounter will be deciding which activity to try first.

Here at Santa Cristina, the castle grounds have a selection of sports and activities. Simply ask a member of staff at the reception.

Geographically, we reside between Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio and there are many natural beauties to be explored, as well as historical towns and archeological sites.

You may wish to simply relax or perhaps you would like an exciting adventure? Join our 4×4 cross country excursions or rent a boat and travel to the islands of the beautiful Lake Bolsena.

If you enjoy mountain biking, we rent out bicycles daily for you to explore the region independently. How about a tour of the estate upon horseback?

Following dinner, have a game at the biliard table or a match at the tennis table and see who is the champion.

From Rome and Florence: Motorway A1 - exit Orvieto. Follow the signs for Lago di Bolsena - Castel Giorgio - S. Lorenzo Nuovo - Grotte di Castro.

From Siena: SS 2 Cassia to S. Lorenzo Nuovo, then turn right to Grotte di Castro.

From Rome’s Airport: Motorway A12 till the end, then go north on SS 1 Aurelia exit Montalto di Castro, turn right to Canino, Valentano, Grotte di Castro.

From Rome (via Cassia): SS 2 Cassia to Bolsena, then turn left to Grotte di Castro.

You can choose to spend your free time sightseeing the enchanting surrondings or simply to relax here at Santa Christina. In a range of 40 Km you can discover the archeological sites of the Etruscan culture (Pre-Roman), have a look at the wonderful Italian Renaissance palaces, visit the castles. You may wish to have an indulgent day in the thermal baths nearby. Equally, lake Bolsena is nearby and offers enchanting beaches to complete your perfectly blissful holiday.

Damage security deposit: For weekly stays, we ask for a deposit of € 150 payable in cash upon arrival and fully refundable upon departure.

Marta & Capodimonte are separate cottage’s with a private swimming pool, that can be rented as one full independent house as well as two separate apartments .
Upon arrival, check-in times are from 3.00 pm to 9.00 pm
Upon departure, the guests are requested to leave the apartments/rooms by 11.00 am. Please leave the apartment as clean and tidy as possible.
