I am Giovanni Fedeli, the owner and proprietor of Il Casolare. For generations my family has lived and worked the land here. Today, my family and I welcome you to Il Casolare for a holiday experience we hope you will cherish and enjoy as much as we enjoy bringing it to you.

“Il Casolare” translates in English to “The Cottage”. While we offer accommodation for up to 27 guests, including 2 apartments, we still pride ourselves on the cozy, comfortable feeling our guests have of visiting friends or family in their country cottage. We work each day to create the perfect marriage of natural beauty, relaxation, hospitality and the best traditions the Marche has to offer.

When you stay with us you not only enjoy the natural beauty and history of San Ginesio, but also the ambience of an authentic agriturismo in which all the food you enjoy – the pastas, meats, cheeses, vegetables, breads, deserts and even the wine and grappa – are raised or made by us from scratch.

We’re located within the town of San Ginesio in the Provincia di Macerata, named one of the most beautiful hill towns in Italy. Il Casolare sits up high and offers a commanding view of the majestic Sibillini Mountains and the national park that bears their name. The verdant valleys and fields of sunflowers roll outward from Il Casolare and end only where the mountains begin. The air is fresh and clean and the living is easy. The buildings of Il Casolare were once part of a Benedictine Monastery and have been tastefully restored using original floor tiles, ancient stones and rich wood beams.Il Casolare is located near San Ginesio, one of the Marche’s classic and most visited hill towns. San Ginesio is characterized by a lively piazza, cultural happenings and beautiful open spaces, dominated by the majestic Sibillini Mountains.
Il Casolare is easily reached from all points and is just 20 minutes’ drive from the provincial capital, Macerata. The Ancona Airport is an hour away and the airports of Rome and Bologna are 3 hours’ drive from the welcoming ambiance of Il Casolare.

We pride ourselves on our food. When you dine at Il Casolare, you literally dine with us, and without dispute we eat quite well. I tend to the land and my wife, Cristina, commands the kitchen. When you dine with us, it’s like dining with family.
All the pastas, meats, cheeses, vegetables, breads, desserts and even the wines and grappa are raised or made by us from scratch. The difference is obvious. The food is fresh. It is free of chemicals and preservatives and it doesn’t travel vast distances to reach your table. We are, at heart and in practice, still quite attached to our land and we take great care to produce the finest foods and ingredients for our table, and by extension, your table.

Our specialties are too vast to list and the menu changes daily based on freshness and availability. Our guests never fail to say that dining with us is so much more than eating in a restaurant. It’s the highest compliment we can receive.

Note, too, that we make available for sale to our guests many of the foodstuffs we serve. And, should you wish to host a lunch or dinner for up to 60 guests, we can customize the menu to your particular desires. We offer Custom Excursions on Request, including:

Summer Beaches or Winter Snow Skiing
We are 30 minutes from the beaches of the Adriatic and just 20 minutes from winter snow skiing.

Mountains
The Parco Nazionale dei Sibillini Mountains with its breathtaking natural beauty and hiking trails is just outside the door and the aquiline waters of the Fiastra Lake, with beaches, kayaking and activities for children and adults alike is just 20 minutes’ drive.

Culture and Shopping
The renowned Macerata Opera is 20 minutes drive and retail outlets of some the World’s best-known shoe and leather goods brands such as Tods, Geox and Nazareno Gabrielli.

Historic Sites, Hill Towns and Food/Wine
Excursions to Loreto, the Basilica of San Nicola in Tolentino and the home of Leopardi, Recanati, are a short drive away. The Roman ruins of Urbisaglia (we can arrange for English speaking guides) are 15 minutes away. Plus, every hill town in the area boasts important architecture, art collections and hidden piazzas. And, don’t forget the local producers of regional salumi, cheeses and wines, all open to the public for visits, tastings and tours.
