Built in 1710 under the reign of King Philip V of Bourbon, this farm “of about 60 hectares provided with a house with two floors, a stable, a barn, a sheepfold and a chapel”, as showed by land register’s documents, has been totally restored and turned into a both physical and spiritual beauty farm, yet keeping unaltered that old charm coming from its cultural and artistic worth. The farm is surrounded by ancient Apulian olive trees: these appear both enormous and sacred to the sight, considered the vital link between the sky and the earth, hell and heaven, whose fruits were used to anoint the chosen people. A Mediterranean tradition powerfully links oil to Gods, giving clear evidence of how olive plants are thought to be divine for their alimentary, curative and symbolic qualities. This old farm, kept closed in its rural and graceful world for centuries with a strong connection to both nature and God, now opens its doors to the tourists who want to rediscover those ancient genuine tastes.
Bar with fireplace; restaurant built in the old crusher with its wooden millstone and press; another restaurant on open air terrace with the Brigand’s private room; private parking; wide natural park provided with paths and relaxing areas among ancient olive trees distributed in 40 hectares of Mediterranean maquis; handling with Murgese horses (the name derives from Murge, the Apulian chain of hills); chapel with frescoes.
The Resort
The whole building is composed of 12 rooms, all provided of air conditioning and heating systems:
* 1 suite with living room, bathtub and 2 seat/2 person shower stall with Turkish bath;
* 4 typical cone-shaped trulli rooms, entirely built with stone (3 double rooms, 1 single);
* 4 rooms on the first floor;
* 3 classical rooms on the ground floor, one of these reserved to disabled.
The Beauty Farm
Entirely surrounded by a dry-stone wall, it includes an open air area with Kneipp path in the stone Garden, and another in the trulli rooms where is the path of Purification that bring the guests from Hell to Heaven (Translatio).
* Treatments
The basic philosophy of the beauty farm is based on the concepts of purification and harmony of body, spirit and environment through the use of extra virgin olive oil - the most powerful natural antioxidant - and the combination of the following elements: hydrotherapy, massages, nutrition, fitness. After having examined the Oracle, the guest can freely choose their own path of natural purification: the Brigands’ Path, with hay baths, hamman (known as the “Turkish Bath”, it is a centuries old public bathing ritual) and massage with antioxidant oils; the Saints’ Path, with donkey milk baths, massages with Gods’ elixir and sacred stones; personalized paths.
The farm is in Crispiano, near the city of Taranto, in the so-called “land of the 100 farms” on the hills of Itria valley. It’s then possible to do guided tours among the most beautiful places of this area with typical local products’ tasting: wine, oil, cheese and salami. This land is also full of events all through the year, i.e. “the chicken’s liver Carnival”, “the chilli pepper’s Festival”, “the mushroom’s Festival” and a living Crèche. Even touristic visits in near towns can be made, i.e. Alberobello with its trulli, typical cone-shaped houses under Unesco protection, Locorotondo and its historical town’s centre, Martina Franca, the town of the famous “Itria Valley’s Festival”, Grottaglie with its ceramics, Ostuni, commonly referred to as "the White Town" for its white walls and its typically white-painted architecture, Taranto and its Magna Graecia archeological museum, Castellaneta Marina and its Ionic coastline. Furthermore, not far are the Alta Murgia National Park, and the world-wide famous Sassi in Matera and Castel del Monte, both included in the list of the Unesco World Heritage sites.
