Relais Rome is located in the heart of the age-old district of Campo Marzio, the most central area of modern Rome. The Romans used to call it Campus Martis, or Field dedicated to Mars, the God of War. Long ago it was a large plain where training and equestrian sports were carried out with circuses, gyms, barracks, naval grounds and holy temples. Campo Marzio’s current aspect, with noble lodgings and buildings, one of which holds the Relais Rome, was given by the popes and by the patrician families of the city, between the XVII-XVIII century.
