If you are looking for a taste of rural Italy as yet unspoiled by tourists then Borgodioria Resort offers the ideal location from which to explore the Puglia region of Southern Italy.
Oria itself, between the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto along the ancient Appian way, is perched on a small fortified hilltop amidst a vast agricultural plain of olive trees and vineyards.
Oria is a medieval town with the impressive castle of Frederick II of Swabia, a charming historical centre and a Jewish ghetto. It's tangled labyrinth of quaint, narrow streets are littered with ancient churches and palaces from a bygone era.
Indeed, life in Oria's old town often leaves you feeling as though you have stepped back in time, such is it steeped in relics from it's historical past.
Oria can be also a unique base for many one-day excursions to Lecce, Alberobello (the city of 'Trulli'), Ostuni (the white city), Cisternino, Brindisi, Taranto, Matera, Bari, Castellana caves.....
The sandy beaches and the crystal clear water of the Jonian Sea are only 20 minutes drive south while the Adriatic Sea is only 30 minutes north, and for much of the year are almost empty of tourists.
