Places to Visit

Puglia is a fantastic tapestry of differing cultures- the Greeks, Arabs, Byzantium’s, and
Normans to name but a few have all left their influence in this far, south-eastern part of Italy.
The colonisations have made Puglia what it is today - a unique mix of cuisine, cultures and architecture.

It is often said that the people are what makes Puglia - “they smile like the sun” and whilst this
is very true, Puglia would not be the same without its “White City” at Ostuni, its Roman and Baroque architecture in Lecce, its wonderful castles at Oria, Otranto and Taranto, the stunning ‘Trulli’ at Alberobello, the beautiful town of Martina Franca, everywhere you go there is something different and interesting to see and explore.

Every small town seems to have a historical heart- its own ‘centro storico‘. Whether you chose to visit Puglia for the first time or are a returning visitor you will find plenty to discover. A variety of local markets, characteristic little known villages, the varied countryside and the coastline, either the Adriatic coast or the little known Ionian coastline with its beautiful sandy beaches. Everywhere you go there is something different and interesting to see and explore.

Every small town seems to have a historical heart- its own ‘centro storico‘.The unique cuisine of Puglia is also a result of many influences from all parts of the Mediterranean and it is no coincidence that most of Italy’s fruit and vegetables are produced here; also of interest is the fact that 10% of Europe’s wines originate here, alongside some of the finest olive oil you will find anywhere. All of this produces a place like no other - a place in which to enjoy a sun-filled,
gastronomically delightful holiday.
