Located in the hills of the Chianti region, near Castellina-in-Chianti, Antico Podere Marciano looks directly out over the spectacular panorama of the Val d’Elsa. The landscape seen from its wide terraces seems as if it were lifted straight off a Tuscan postcard – gently sloping hills dotted with cypresses, castles and stone farm houses surrounded by vineyards spread out into the distance, where you can also see the outlined spires of the famous towers of San Gimignano.

Opened to the public in 2004, Antico Podere Marciano is the result of a comprehensive and very careful restoration of an ancient rural house. A “homely-feeling” and the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of the interiors, make Antico Podere Marciano very different from traditional hotels, while at the same time offering the same high standard services and comforts.

Antico Podere Marciano as it is today is the result of a thorough restoration of a traditional rural property, dating the year 1.000. The small charming hotel has been furnished finely, taking care for details and comfort. The restoration work and interior design project were entrusted to interior designer Julia Scartozzoni, who carefully selected suggestive colors, styles and décor to fill the “rural hotel” with a refined yet comfortable atmosphere.
All materials used to restore the building, as well as those chosen to furnish both the inside and the outside of the house, are the highest quality available.

Common areas available to all guests include the living room equipped with a large fireplace and bar, the den with its library and small fireplace, the wide terraces, and the 16 x 8 meter swimming pool equipped with a hydro-massage and a waterfall. The hotel is surrounded by a vast garden and wooded area where there are paths to explore on foot or on mountain bike. The villa has a wide terrace, “la Piazzetta”, which offers a spectacular view of the area, and a pleasant cozy courtyard, “la Corte”, next to the bar. Breakfast and meals are served under the beautiful outdoor loggia which overlooks the valley.. A barbeque area has been created in the spacious garden. Open parking-lot.

Differently from traditional hotels, we offer a daily bed&breakfast service, while dinners are supplied only on Tuesdays and Fridays upon confirmation one day ahead and with a minimum number of 8 participants.

Rooms

Antico Podere Marciano has Standard Plus and Superior double rooms. Superior rooms have a panoramic terrace or a small private garden with independent entrance. Each room has its own en-suite large and comfortable bathroom furnished with a marble table with integrated basin . Two bathrooms have an old style bathtub, all others have large shower enclosures. The rooms are furnished with double beds with wrought iron bed frame (some are canopied double beds), antique wardrobe or wall closet, and small lounge area with sofa bed or armchair. Main color schemes: beige, antique rose pink, and sand. All curtains are hand-painted and go perfectly well with the quilts patterns.

Facilities

Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10:00 under the Loggia. It is a buffet breakfast with a wide variety of food: local cheese, ham and salame, fresh fruit, Home-made pastries, cereals, joghurts, croissants, etc..

The pool
It is located in a perfect place to enjoy the view of the vineyard and the surrounding valley. The stone-built structure measures 8 x 16 meters. The water completely fills the depth of the pool and spills over the edge, while a small stone waterfall has been built in one corner of the pool. The pleasant sound of water tumbling over the rocks makes lounging around the pool even more relaxing. Also, inside the swimming pool you can relax while seated on a stone bench equipped with hydro-massage plant.
Always available by the pool an isothermic box with fresh drinks.

The Restaurant
Our hotel’s restaurant is open on Tuesdays and Fridays for dinners upon confirmation one day ahead and with a minimum number of 8 participants. Menus consists of four courses prepared with genuine ingredients characteristic of the Tuscan cuisine and with particular care for presentation and decoration.
The price is Euro 40,00 per person, and does not include drinks.

Laundry
Laundry service is provided. Please ask at the front desk.

Transfers
We provide airport transfers, and transportation to and from restaurants, museums, etc… Prices vary according to distances and number of passangers.
