the way it works is this... its been found out that amongst the millions of legal intercepts in italy each year there have been loads of non authorised intercepts... balanced across all parties and famous people...
the people have been found and are supposed to go to trial ... it has been agreed surprise surprise by the goverment that all illegal tapes have to be destroyed and that any people or paers making any reference to any of the contents of these tapes will be liable for prosecution... most of that seems fair enough i guess...
the trouble with this is that they want to destroy these tapes straight away ... before any trials... which begs the question if you destroy the evidence how do you prosecute the people that made the illegal tapes...
more important why this big rush to pass a law in order to do this... and then another part inhibiting the press in getting hold of or publishing any of it...
there must be some pretty incriminating bits and pieces on these tapes which has caused not for the first time some pretty quick law drafting in italy to make sure nothing much gets known...
