Not in the least bit strange. Here's the original, and my reply:

What about privacy laws, all my details are in there , date of birth, codice fiscale etc, etc....
When I was growing up, it was a sin in our house if anyone dared to open anyone else's mail. Good job my mother is not still with us.
This is not the first experience I have had of the postale opening my mail, are they allowed to do this ? Has any other member had their mail opened and inspected or do the Italians think I am a spy 003 and a half????

Do I really need to say why her post is trying to be dramatic ? ("sin", "private details", "my mother" "????", "spy", "dared to open mail" "

".....).
GEDDIT NOW ?
The "lato apribile" notice comes pre-printed on some envelopes. It just means that,
if they want to inspect the contents, that's where to open the envelope, as it can be closed easily again on that side. There's an English equivalent but I can't remember it. It's printed on the back of some stuff I get from England. I never worry.
