Hi jenny - I doubt if an unsolicited lesson on "how to search using google" was what you were really after; I imagine you'd hoped for some specific info on upcoming events in your own area or maybe some ideas to aid in planning a weekend trip away around an interesting event?

When. Are you after open air opera in Verona during August, Jazz clubs in Umbria in Autumn, Indie Rock in Rome anytime etc.
That should maximise your chances of someone here being able to give you some specific help based on local knowledge - or at the very least you'll have defined the criteria for a more focused google search.
