A lot of furniture (sold worldwide) is in fact made in Italy and there are lots of specific areas famous for this ( le Marche is an important production centre,Sacile in the North produces alone an incredible % of all the chairs made in the world, north of milano has a lot of the famous designer furniture and as far as i'm aware in umbria they produce quite a lot of "traditional" style and reproduction furniture.Forget antiques right away (most antique dealers i've met in Italy purchase in the UK,eastern europe and france hence they are very expensive and italian antiques tend to be prohibitive (i guess people never sell them). My advice would be go to a reputable furniture store(maybe on someones recomendation) say that you are looking for traditional style furniture and voilą they'll produce high resolution pictures in a dealer catalogue of what you're looking for, they may even have a few pieces on site (but it's unusual to find huge mega stores here that have anything worth while )you'll be pleasantly suprised at the range and the resonable prices etc.
