Default Annual tax retrun

Hi! I seem to recall seeing something about a new rule requiring all property owners to make an Italian tax return from 2008, but I can't find anything about this on the forums now. Did I dream it? Sadly, I suspect not! Can anyone briefly advise as to what is required and when the return has to be made? Many thanks.

Also (and I'm slightly hi-jacking my own thread here!), a business related question. We currently still reside in the UK, but we hope to come out to Italy later this year. Initially, we will not become Italian residents as we don't know exactly how things are going to work out longer term (although we already have a house in Italy). I have a internet based business which I run from home in the UK, and I am currently a self employed sole trader. I would like, if possible, at least initially, to keep the business as a UK tax concern - the reason for this is two-fold: 1) my Italian is not yet good enough to tackle the Italian paperwork, especially if it turns out to only be a temporary measure, and 2) it would be better for my business to remain 'UK based'. Is anyone in a similar situation? Can this be achieved? Would it be easier if I become a limited company? I want to stress that I am not trying to 'evade' the Italian tax system - I simply just don't want to make large changes to the business unnecessarily. Also, I appreciate that the obvious answer to this query is 'See a tax specialist', but it is still early days and I would currently be very grateful for any advice that anyone in a similar situation can give.

Also, having just previewed my post, I have just remembered reading that all businesses in Italy must be VAT registered... however, I think I will leave that post for another day!

I apologise for what turned out to be quite a long post!
