There does not appear to be much discussion here regarding Calabria, in part I suspect it is not an area that attracts neither workers from the UK nor people looking to retire - hence not many people to discuss it's merits or otherwise.
I note there is some discussions over Basilicata and Calabria could be next as there are many Brits reserving properties following their inspection trips. From what I can gather on the Internet many of the bigger agents are moving in on the area and I only hope they are not allowed to ruin it.
The current appeal for us is the unspoilt nature with few english-speaking locals/tourists.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone else who has an interest in the area, especially around Tropea.
Over to the Calabria forum to discuss flights in to Lamezia.

Hello, Roy,
Oh, how nice to hear of someone else interested in Calabria! I am so excited that I just cannot wait for July 11 to arrive. That is the day we leave to see Calabria for the first time. My husband and I will be first arriving at LaMezia and then going to Scalea for an inspection trip. We will then travel down the west coast and across to the east coast. There is a purpose in this trip and it is to see if this is the region in which we want to live permanently. We plan on moving to Italy within 2 or so years. I am of Italian heritage, speak Italian, understood, but not perfect Italian, and I just love my heritage. I have a very small family here and just have this yearning to be there. We are from the US, New York State. I would love to meet up with some people already staying there. I would love to hear from you. Thank you.
