Hello, Lynn,
I thought I would say hello. I could not help but see that you bought an apartment in Scalea this year. On July 11 we fly from the US to LaMezia and we will be going immediately to Scalea. We have an inspection tour with Scalea Property Services. My husband and I ar very excited about this trip. We have been to Italy in 2003, 05, and 07, but never to Calabria. I just have this yearining to move there and we plan on doing that. We scouted around regions, saw Abruzzo last year, and it was great, but I just love the mountains and the sea. Living near the sea would be terrrific and just like a dream, so I am thrilled for this trip because the photos online are stunning. I am all Italian and just feel so at home around the language and culture. We will be in Calabria from the 11th to the 27th, going down the west coast and up the east coast. I have a feeling I am going to find the right town that feels right and then I will know where I want to buy a small home.
How do you like Scalea? Do you find many English speaking people? I think it is a holiday apartment, right? Or, do you live there permanently?
I need to find a place not up on a hill which is treacherous and narrow to drive down. It sounds like there exist some towns like that.
I thought it would really be a neat thing to meet up with someone for some drinks to say hello. We would love to do that if anyone is open to that. When will you be there? Please do not feel that I am pressuring you, just thought I would mention it.
We would love to hear from you.gweis60@optonline.net
