Sorry to hear about your bad Fed Ex experience - it would be interesting to know as to how they arrived at the huge fee for customs clearance etc !

We have used expresschemist on a couple of occasions without any problems. They do use the normal post office system and goods are shipped in unmarked brown boxes so there is nothing to draw attention as to what may be lurking inside. They have always seemed to provide a professional and efficient service so I suspect do not stock anything that might be regarded as dubious - even by the Italian authorities! Admittedly I have not examined their product list in great detail and have no idea as to the complete list of drugs/supplements approved here in Italy - OTC or otherwise. But yes, you are quite right to highlight the fact that the Italians are very protective of their rip off system - it is slowly changing now that supermarkets can have a pharmacy counter. I guess, if in doubt check with expresschemist - they should be able to give an infromed answer.
