Default prontobus rome pescara

saw an article in a newspaper here the other day and was going to put a posting for it... a company called prontobus was advertising a new route...roma fiumicino to pescara... anyway went looking for the link to the website just now and this other thing popped out...

Abruzzo Liberale - Regione cancella linea Pescara-Roma Prontobus

saying that the region had withdrawn their licence to run a route from Abruzzo to Rome...

this is pretty well to do with the ARPA bus company having quite a bit of sway here but is against the liberalisation that should be allowed now.... so maybe it will change,,,

Prontobus.com - Powered by FABS -

anyway the above link takes you to the prontobus web site and there are campaigns and battles being run from there to allow them to operate more freely

this is a company unlike ARPA who does not get any regional funding and therefore has to compete in a free way.... now the Pescara route is actually not much good for me... the bus from rome here is via L'aquila to Teramo... so is shorter and quicker anyway... but those of you from this region that use that route to Pescara or would like a more widespread service seems to me this companies battle might be well worth supporting

It seems that they offer a daily service from PENNE to PESCARA airport at 7am and 2.30pm that some people may find useful. The 2.30pm would connect with the ryanair return to Stanstead too.

The 7am bus goes on to Rome and takes 2 hours.

We have gotten a transfer from the Airports in Rome to Sulmona a couple of times with Antonio of VEDA VIAGGI - Noleggio Autobus e Minibus. They are based in Bugnara (near Sulmona). It's usually because we arive too late for public transport or car hire. He's met us in the airport and driven us in a minibus to our destination.

Hi,

Follwing on from this I emailed Prontbus at the end of August in my poor italian and was advised that they do run a service from Fiumicino Airport. The bus leaves for Pescara from the car park near Area C at the following times:

h 10,00 14,00 21,30

We would be going to Sulmona for example and while they do not stop in Sulmona they say that they could stop at the Autostrada exit at Pratola Peligna and we would have to make our own way from there. I presume a taxi for those few miles wouldn't be too expensive.

Hi for completeness I'm including the link to the timetable for Prontobus as follows:-

Prontobus.com - Powered by FABS -

You'll see that they depart from teh Bus Terminal at Car Park C in the airport and stop at Avezzano, Sulmona/Pratola, Torrei de Passeri, Chieti Scalo and Pescara.
