Default IKEA Kitchen fitters

Hiya,

has anyone had any experience with the kitchen fitters from IKEA? We are potentially buying a kitchen from them and might get them to fit it (we're rather short of time right now).

So I just wondered if anyone had an opinion on what sort of job they do?

We had our apartment kitchen fitted by guys contracted by IKEA, our experience was not good.
They were the first surly Italians I had met, were not skilled enough to fit the outer wood clad door to the fridge (in the end our electricain did it for us), had to be reminded to fit the handles to the units, and when their one and only drill broke, packed up and went home.after numerous calls to IKEA and a wait they returned in even a worse humour and did finish the job. Actually after the hassle the kitchen looks good, but we probably will not use them again.
You of course may get the charming expert team who do a wonderful job and then take you out to lunch, perhaps we drew the short straw with the grumpy team.

People here I suspect will say don't use IKEA unless you fit the kitchen yourself. It's very difficult to find handymen, especially with experience of fitting them. If you do decide on a handyman, be careful of the additional costs they add to their quote like plumbing and someone cutting the holes for the sink and hob. I know of someone who was charged €100 for said building work. If possible get a few quotes.

Hi Sparters, Are you in the Bagni di Lucca area? I ask only because I know a really good handyman in this area who would do you a good job for a good price. Let me know if you would like details. Cheers, Jane

NB. The IKEA kitchen fitters did not plumb in or connect the gas ,we had to get our own guys to that for us.You can see the completed job on our website.
