Default outside lighting

ciao a tutti
can anyone give me advice on the use of lights exterior connected to the 220v mains system, i know they need to have an ip rating, but does this need to be as high as ip65 under italian regulation? thanks marco

We have just had our house restored with completely new interior and exterior lighting. I bought the exterior lights and he was quite happy to instal IP44 lights and issue the required certification

thank you for the reply thats very interesting as the electrician we have had a quote of is insistent upon ip65 lights to comply "he says" with italian regulations, will have to do more checking

He wouldn't be supplying the lights would he?

oh yes and through his toys out the cot when i suggested i would provide my own lights
