Default Tips on tried and tested books or methods

I'm looking to pick up Italian over the coming months as I'm planning to purchase an apartment for holidays later this year and I'd like to make an effort with the local's and it's a beautiful language too.

I have several Audio CD's etc that I'm attempting to make a start with, however I seem to study better with a book too...

There are so many to choose from...I'm after any tips on tried and tested books or methods?

Thanks in advance

Teach yourself italian, was a simple book with a cd and it was paperback size,I have tried to look for it on amazon and they have anew version so i am not sure how good that version is .( isbn 978-0340946824 ) .. The version I bought had sundried tomatoes on the front cover. I am sure you can get it from borders !

It was tough at first but along side the usual cds etc I found it explained grammar.. the fault I found was it didnt have structure.

there are loads of websites too and loads of books the reason I likes this was the size.

You also have some lessons at different levels in this site. Look at the top under: Italian language
