I have searched for and read lots of the ENEL threads on here, but can't find a definitive answer to my problem..... can anyone help?
Our electricity supply is currently on the 3.0 kW Non residente - Tariffa: Monoraria. We want to upgrade to a higher limit. We are registered with the ENEL website and see you can change your tariff online, but there are so many options, and it's a little confusing which is the most appropriate option? It looks like our current tariff is the D2 option from the Tariffe monorarie. Upgrading to D3 looks like it would serve more than our needs as it appears to give an unlimited maximum wattage (and the price is accordingly much higher). Then there are Le tariffe biorarie, of which both the Due and Mari e Monti tariffs look like they could be suitable......... it's all a bit confusing! I'm after the best value non-resident tariff which gives >3kw -- any ideas?! :p |

I'm on 6KW with the Mari e Monti tariff. Unfortunately, I haven't had a bill yet. However, my understanding is that this is the best tariff for holiday-home owners (best rates at weekends and throughout August). |

When you do investigate, Ric, can you get in touch with us? We've been trying to upgrade since last October with no luck so far despite applying at least three times. Also we haven't even had an electricity bill for our cottage since we took possession - almost a year ago!!! We definitely have to get it sorted this July!!

Will do, Kathy.
You know with your codice fiscale and customer number you can access, print and pay your bills on their website.....plus you can get your paper bills sent to the UK, and supposedly change your tarriff....? :p |

Hi Ric
We upgraded from 3 to 4.5 on line - needed to do it in two stages went to duo tarrif first - no charge, then paid over 100 euros, can't recall the exact figure , to upgrade to 4.5 all done on line - we had some confirmation letters sent to the UK to confirm the change to sign hope that helps Jane |

You can also telephone them to request an upgrade and they will send you out a new contract to sign which will state any charges etc. before they send someone out to do the upgrade. If you are n ot confident with your Italain, then ask if there is anyone who speaks english....quite often there is!
'Due' is the new tariff which is best for holiday home owners who do not rent out there houses in between visits as it gives cheaper rates for electricity late eves and all weekend. Residents do not receive much more discount.........you just tend to get your meter read more often and therefore your bills are more accurate. You can send in a reading by phone, post or online. Could I ask those who have had 6kw from the start or have upgraded to it how much more than 3kw it cost or how much the upgrade was. That would be very helpful especially if say 3kw isn't enough for an oven and hair dryer together. Our architect thinks it is expensive.
Also is ENEL the only electricity supplier? |

maybe to put some things in perspective here... we have the normal ...not sure if its 3 or 3.5 kw supply.... the computer is on 24 hrs a day every day... the playstation is never turned off and two of the tvs if not on are on standby,,, we have a filtration pump which runs about four hours a day the fridge and freezer always on... the central heating unit has a massive pump for circulating things so in the winter thats on...... underneath the TV all the bits and pieces like dvds and video are on stanby so ais the stereo system... we have got into the italian habit of keeping the sun out when its hot but find it too depressing so the lights always seem to be on.... we run a normal washing machine every day and i figure that the microwave plus everything else listed above and the washing machine have on several occaisions all been on at the same time...the hairdryer not sure...but most probably... so having neverhad the electricity trip i find the attempts to increase the supply rating and the already excessive costs you will pay for a normal supply surprising... and if i can add a few things...when we renovated our house next door we had the cement mixer various large demolition drills, disc cutters and i cannot remember what else running at the same time...oh yes the sand blasting machine... if your a business with guests staying and have heavier than normal domestic appliances to run its obvious you will need more...but i regard our lifestyle as totally non green in the energy sense and have had no problems... so who has actually burnt out all their system and do you actually have a modern electrical wiring system.... because if you dont start there not only will all your appliances keep tripping everything the wires will eventually overheat and burn your house down.... maybe best to check that aspect first instead of trying to run heavy loads on wiring most probably designed to run light fittings... |
