We have just bought a new apartement in and was shocked to find that the gas was not connected. We assumed it just needed turning on at the main stop cock. We applied for a supply just after we moved in in August and still have no gas. That means no hot water and no heating. Does anyone know of anyway we can speed up Enelgas as we don't even have a date. Anyone know of any other solution and does anyhone know if the builder should have ensured this was on before completion.

Dont know about the certificate Alan but you do need to get the boiler serviced every year. You should be given a booklet which is stamped by the equivalent of a corgi registered workman, I believe there are spot checks to ensure this is done. It wasnt very expensive for our 2 boilers, and it gives us peace of mind.

we has a new meter...well two of them...before the gas could be turned on they had to have a certifcate to say that everything had been installed and signed off by a certified gas engineer...
the boilers when new before being legalley allowed to be used have to have a technician of the firm that supply/make the boiler down to run tests on it... a sort of technical certificate all these things are then registered with the comune... this means the comune who issues the certificates and checks that controls have been made then have a record... this is very handy for them as anyone not doing the yearly certification is then liable to fines for all the years missed and the comune gets more money... the yearly check is sort of split into a yearly sort of quick check followed by in the next year a full overhaul and more thorough check... so you apy a lot every two years... i believe last check up cost us about e90 for each boiler and that included the certificate from the comune...i presume there are national regulations which are interpreted by the comunes in their own way... but it is a source of tax for virtually doing nothing.... although with gas i am happy to have someone have a look every year...it has always made me nervous |

Just a quick update to let everyone know how long this sort of things takes. We are still waiting for the gas meter and as we have no immersion heater backup for the hot water still no hot water.

Keep on at them obviously Alan - face to face. One way of checking progress is to register on their web site.
Here I would imagine your local couciller or ombudsman would inttervene. I wonder if there is someone similar in Italy. |

I am now getting desperate. We bought in August its now December and very cold. Still no gas meter which means currently we heat our apartment with fan heaters and have no hot water. Anyone any suggestions whatsoever as to how we can our gas meter installed. Enil just don't seem to want to respond to our emails and phone calls and no-one else can supply gas to Musso (Lake Como) where our apartment is.

I'm doing this now.
First a licensed fitter has to come and check out the setup. Not just any fitter will do. Once he has filled out the paperwork he forwards it to the gas company that then fits the meter. Either the fitter or a different one comes back to install the heating system. Don't know where you're located . My fitter claims to know somebody higher up at the gas company and will speed things up. Even so it's looking to be close to 2 weeks for the gas meter. Normal is more then 4 weeks. |
