Default Enel Bill - Paying online

I've been trying to pay my Enel electicity bill for a week now, I manage to load my credit card details but then I get a message telling me that the transaction was unsuccessful and that I should try again. Does anyone know if there are any problems with the Enel website? ( I've paid this way for my last 7 bills with no problem- any suggestions?)

I had a similar problem in the summer but managed to pay my latest bill about 10 days ago - and the payment has just gone onto my credit card account.

Thanks, I'm now late with my payment and was worrying about losing power, but I'll keep trying and keep my fingers crossed.

You're not using Amex by any chance? I was using Amex successfully up until a few bills ago but now, although it's one of the accepted payments, it never goes through successfully. Something to do with the absence of a security code perhaps? Anyway, I use visa now without a problem.

Why not pay by direct debit? We set that up with ENEL and now they take the money directly out of our account. I must say it did take a while to get the direct debit to take effect which I found frustrating. Not nearly as simple as instructing the bank to pay. You seem to have to tell both parties over and over. But now that it works, we have no problem with it.

Default Paying ENEL bill by credit card

If your card is UK based it may be worth speaking to the card issuer. We use Nationwide and they blocked authorisation of ENEL web transactions I guess sensibly because they couldn't see why it was in character with the account. Having phoned them, they released the transaction and we've had no issues with them since.

That said we've had absolutely no luck in trying to top up our Wind mobile by buying credit through Mondowind - they just don't seem to like the card. Phoned Nationwide and they say they aren't even getting a request for authorisation from Wind.

Great point Brownie. That is why mine worked the last time and not before. I had spoken to Nationwide on a totally different issue and was questioned about the payments I make when in Italy. They have now added a note on my card that I am in Italy fairly often.

They are usually tabacci that sell lottery tickets and you can do all sorts there like paying bills and topping up your mobile phone. (They seem to do it all through a little computer terminal thingy).
Have PM'd you re other query.
