I've also been to the clandestino - it's cool - it's chic - it's "in"
but 8 bucks for a little can of tuna is pushing it.
... sure it's special tuna - hand pick from the seas of Spain or whatever but a lame idea.
The bread put in the little paper bags was a "hip" idea though.

I like the location but it really is a rip off.

sorry to be "rude", but you cannot say "it's a rip off", as you said it's cool,it's chic,it's in, so it's more expensive, it's simply a different target, not for everibody, there are many other restaurants in the area, you can find many cheaper, when i go to a restaurant in london,i pay more than il clandestino but would never say that they ripped me off!
next time i suggest to try mc donald in civitanova marche!
ciao

So thats where the nearest Mc Donalds is Mcandrew, no clan connection then?.....just joking as I am sure you were. I think Kelly was just expressing her opinion.

I have never eaten at either place mentioned but it is discouraging when the hype and publicity of a place actually do not meet your expectations, especially when you feel you have paid rather alot of money for the experience, it hasnt happened to me here in Italy after 2 years of living in Marche. In fact to the amazement of an Italian friend we were lunching with, when the food turned up after a very long wait the owner announced at the end of the meal that it was all free, he was mortified that we had received what he said was bad service (we had not complained).

We read the write up to Il Clandestino last year and found it, went for a drink early evening but it was a bit too self consciously hip for us.. and ludicrously priced for really a glass of wine at a beach bar. What decided it for us was the long wait for service, interrupted by the 'gully gulper' turning up to empty the septic tank, we took off then!
There is a beach restaurant further along the same beach which does some super fresh fish dishes at lunch time and rents out sun loungers etc. Got a bit crowded for hubby but it had a jolly atmosphere. Would go there again, but bypass Il Clandi.
