Default Lago di San Ruffino

There is a newish ristorante opened by the lake at San Ruffino, about 10mins out of Amandola on the road to Fermo and Servigliano. Its called Osteria del Lago and we sat outside overlooking the lake in brilliant sunshine last Tuesday. the food is good the service very friendly and after lunch or before! it is possible to walk around the lake, which is marshy now but has herons and egrets flying around it.

There is a dining room inside which is simple but attractive, but I think the real joy will be next year sitting ouside on the terrace, with the lake and the mountains in the background.

Do give it a try if you are in the area, well worth a visit.

Have been there A&R, it is the same people who had the premises on the other side, which is now also a restaurant again and owned by the butcher in Amandola next to the post office.
The Osteria had to move as their lease ran out and it has been about a year for it to reopen, as most of the work was done voluntarily by local builders etc. We are hoping that they restart the library there again, as running out of reading material now that winter is upon us.

Unfortunately A&R we donated virtually every free book we had to the library at San Ruffino. We are hoping that Guiseppe who ran it when it was the tourist centre gets everything back up and running again.
By the way, we look down on the lake, when they fill it, from our house. If you ever see a couple at the restaurant with a rather large Maremmano then come and say hello!!!

Hi
Took your advice and went down with the family last Sunday, what a fantastic spot, the menu sounds great as does all the other activities that the cooperative are running- the christmas cookery course, the craft lessons, the canoeing in Summer, plus the Deer park and the museum of rural life. Great tip- cheers.

I'll talk to Giuseppe (who should be at the dinner in Servigliano on Friday 14th) and see if we can get the library up and running again. My idea is to expand it greatly and move it to Casa Monti in Servigliano, where there are several big rooms.

I've been meaning to do it for years and really must get it together this winter. Anyone interested please e-mail me at janji@aruba.it and come to the dinner next week.

I went down to the Lago on Thursday for the first time. I was expecting a lake having been on google earth. I presume that due to the lack of rain it was just a trickle. Is it likely to fill up after the winter snows melt?

It looks a fabulous location for a meal and the bird life was worth the journey on it own.

Thumbs up Osteria Del Lago

Hi my name is Rosa Sciamanna,
I recently went to Le Marche to visit my relatives. My cousin is the owner of the Osteria Del Lago in San Ruffino. Without sounding biast she runs the best agriturismo in that area. They work some very long hours there, and it sure does pay off, the food is exceptional and has you going back for more.
A couple of times that I was there I found myself interpreting for some english or even australian customers that were dining there and thought that it was great to be able to do that for them.
My favourite dish would have to be the angel hair fresh pasta with the fresh vegetables, I could easily eat two plates of that.
Most of the produce used is grown from their gardens, making everything so fresh, none of that frozen stuff. It will be great when the accomodation is finished and you are able to stay the night. Breakfast would be such a treat. I expect it will be up and running by the end of the year.
Meanwhile I stayed with my cousins mother directly across the lake from the osteria and walked over to the osteria everyday either to eat or just to have a coffee and a chat.
This place is a must see on your visit to Le Marche, I highly recommend that you eat here and that you won't forget your visit.
For any other information on the Osteria Del Lago in San Ruffino don't hesitate to email me at domss@bigpond.net.au attn: Rosa
Thanks Rosa
