lighting and wardrobes

I am working on reburb and having difficulty sourcing the above.
Been to Ikea but would like something more authentic.

We would like modern contemporary lighting, good quality.
Italy makes a lot of lighting but not found too many retailers yet (been to Gebas in Amandola).

Freestanding solid wood (not pine) wardrobes are difficult to locate.
Will probably move to built in but would like quality doors - perhaps joiner could make.

We are near San Ginesio so any recommendations in Macerata, Civitanova Marche, Tolentino, Fermo area would be appreciated.

Why not try Stockhouse on the Fermo Road, its before the Oasi shopping centre on the right hand side. Not sure if its all pine or what though.
The Castorama stores have quite large lighting sections, so they might also be worth a try.

Although we are in a different area of Italy, like you, I at first struggled to find a good retailer of quality contemporary lighting so I went via the manufacturers like Flos F L O S and Targetti www.targetti.it (their Stoneage range is paricularly good for stone properties) and got them to pinpoint their distributors in our area. Also have a look at Marchetti Illuminazione Marchetti Illuminazione , particularly their Moody range - a great modern twist on crystal lights - btw the website does not do these lights justice, they are really stunning in the flesh - secondo me!

Just as an aside there have been some exciting developments in led, low energy & low energy halogen lighting recently, so I would recommend you pay attention to the type of light as well as the design of the lamp, as you can now achieve some fantastic lighting effects.

All our internal doors were made by the same people who made all our windows to our own taste and budget in solid wood.(in Tolentino)We also got modern lighting systems from Gibas in Amandola these articles are NOT on display as they don't make them them selves but if you know what you want they'll get them for you avoiding that you buy some things in one place and the rest in another etc(you can even take magazines if they feature the kind of thing you're looking for).As far as furniture is concerned there are a few very good places in the area where you can choose from top of the range to middle level wardrobes etc prices are reasonable and delivery mounting etc is included,we have solid wood wardrobes from Marini in Servigliano.we did not have toleave the area to get anything we wanted.If anything one might have to adjust a little to different ways of "buying things" ie. don't expect mega stores 4 floors, everything on display, car park to match as it would not be viable here with such a small population for example we bought some things from a dealers catalogue with high resolution pics seeing at the time only a few small examples of what we were buying...i don't have a problem with that especially with the benefits we obtained like free transport, free mounting (which took them four days for two men) deferred payment without finance companyies,pre dated cheques, or any other institutionalised form of payment definitely worth it.

Luce Dell'Amore - excellent idea, I will follow up on your suggested manufacturers, one appears to be based in Ancona which is handy. Do you have any other recommendations on the low energy front?

Unfortunately the question is too open as there are a plethora of different types of bulbs. Good makes are Phillips & Megaman, they both also have useful websites that explain the different types of bulbs and where best to use them. I would also recommend you get a wholesale lighting catalogue from someone like Lyco - website - Welcome to Lyco Direct - 1000s of Light Bulbs & Fittings - Energy Saving, Low Energy & LED Bulbs . This will give you a good idea of what you should pay as well as giving you a wide selection.
I found that the two electricians we spoke to in Puglia were not up to date with the latest technology - in fact I had an argument with one when I aksed for dimmers to be put in and he was adamant that I could not use low energy bulbs - Lyco sell about 5 differnt makes - having said that they are abot £15 each!! So it pays to do your own research as the impossible can become possible!
