Default Recommended Shops In Or Near Florence

Sometimes, we do need special things for decorative touches and I was searching for some trimmings for our Savonarola chairs (see the other thread on shopping in the Lucca/Barga area) and I could remember I had seen some tassles at the S. Lorenzo markets. Well, they did not have what I was after, however, just around the corner on Piazza S. Lorenzo n. 12/B I found this shop that has all the accesories for traditional Tuscan decoration that you can think of.... Prices are not particularly cheap, but the items are beautiful and they have a great variety of styles. You can have a look at their Internet site; Passamaneria Toscana - The Craft of Passing On the Florentine Art of Decoration
Well worth a visit next time you are around Florence even to have a look and get some inspiration.....

P.S. By the way, I bought four beautiful tassles, fairly large, total cost some 40 euros.

Beautiful fabrics there Gala, must take a browse when I'm next in Florence.
I haven't managed to find any fabric at all (and I have had furniture recovered) in the Liberty stile.
This would suit the style of my place better and although Lucca/Barga are full of properties from this period, none of the upholsterers I went too had any catalogues in Liberty.

I am sure that you will be able to find something suitable there. They cater for different styles. Good luck!
