Hi, We're in the process of buying an apartment outside Lucca. It's going to be somewhere we can go with our three children for holidays but also for us to rent out. I'm working out how to furnish it at the moment and want to keep the place as versatile as possible. I was thinking about just getting single beds that can be pushed together to form doubles when required. I've looked in Ikea (where most of our furniture will come from) but can't find nice enough beds that'll do the job. Does anybody know the names of good bed shops that we can check out when we're next in the area? We'll be quite tight for time so it'd save us wasted journeys. Thanks!

You're welcome. Another interesting address in Lucca:
Mercatino dell' usato di Lucca Via Acquacalda (opposite the large Cantoni factory) You have a vast selection of second-hand furniture, etc. and some new as well. A good place to pick up some framed prints, mirrors, etc. Depending on your luck, you may get a few very pleasant surprises. You may need to go there several times as everyday there are new items coming. Some antique furniture as well, but prices are a bit high.... They are open Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 - 12:30 and 15;30 TO 19:30 Closed on Monday. See Home page And of course there is the Antique market in Lucca on the third Sunday of the month. Happy hunting!

Hello Emma and Paul
We bought a house in near Pescaglia in November and are having great fun furnishing it! There is an interesting shop near Marlia (past the Esselunga) called Bobbola Mobili, Viale Europa, Marlia (on the left of the road). It sells both antique and reproduction furniture and may be worth a visit. Another place that may be of interest is Mercatone Uno, they have a sale on till the end of April. They delivered at the time they said and were very helpful. Hope this helps - I know about lighting now too and have some interesting shops to recommend. Enjoy! |
