Perhaps now everyone has made their point, it is an emotive subject, and the research done by members re what appears to be the true story has been revealed. Is it now the time to put the subject to rest,? but to remember again how manipulative to press can be.

Bear in mind, anyone who wishes to tell the Independent what they think of their journalistic integrity can leave a comment on their site after the article, it may not do any good of course, but it is quite satisfying none the less.....

(Apoligies to barn Elms I stupidly posted the wrong link - now removed)

And how manipulative readers can be if they don't like the story in the press. Yes, let's do now put the subject to rest, shall we?

Noma you can not put a subject to rest with a comment like that!!!

The readers who did not like the story were not manipulative, they refused to be manipulated and dug up the truth behind the sensationalist journalism.

This whole sorry story shows how easy it is for the press to manipulate the masses and whip up hate campaigns and racial tension. It is only by the efforts of Julian and others that we have been able to see the lies that were promulgated in the name of ‘news'.

We should all be grateful to those who took the time and trouble to unmask the lie, whether you happen to like it or not.

Default That photo.

Sad to see this picture, journalists have a job to do (sometimes repugnant )
but if I was to be slightly cynical I would suggest that the couple sitting further
up the beach could have been further away than the picture indicates.
You would have thought that some screens could have been erected around
the dead children at the very least.

Noma, I don't get you - what's your beef exactly? I don't know who your comment is directed towards. Is it the readers of this thread, readers of the newspapers who have reported the incident, or me?

On the off chance it was towards me, (and in my opinion, there are grounds to assume it was) then I can only say that if you think I've manipulated this thread in the wrong direction, then please speak up - loud and clear.

Other than to say some comments were moving and my reaction to them was peculiarly defensive and to tell me twice to re-read the Cardinals article, s-l-o-w-l-y, you seem to have little to offer and I do not understand the point (if any) you want to make.

If you are directing your comment towards others - then please make it clear who, so they may respond if they wish - or consider remaining silent if all you really want to do is post supercilious comments on a already emotive thread just for the sake of it.

Thanks.

Yes, let us put it to rest...it maybe will make you happy.

Edit: (Sorry, maybe it will make Noma happy, juliancoll is clearly less easily conned/manipulated).

This was a non story. So, let it die.

Noma, you're waffling dear.

Oh come on! Not a sensationalist quote? Are you serious Noma?

Sally, for Gods sake, please stop it! Post after post of links to sensationalist quotes are excuses given by some to use this tragedy to rile up feelings and does nothing to present a clear picture here.

Apologies Alan, but I cannot allow that type of post without addressing it.

Noma, you underestimate the intelligence of the people here. What you don't say reveals far more than anything you ever could say. The real reason you popped into this thread is transparent and only because I have respect for the thread topic, other members who have requested this thread be laid to rest and the secure knowledge that you are not worthy of further comment, allows me to refrain from posting a reply that would make you squeak with embarrassment.
