The obscene amount of vehicles pumping out noxious fumes in Italy

I was at work today driving a minibus with 278,000 K on the clock, so possibly a little smoky. I slowed for one of the local buses to pull out; it was covered in environmental advertising 'use low energy appliances', 'recycle', 'use public transport' etc... As he accelerated away there was a huge belch of black smoke from his exhaust. I thought about this thread and chuckled to myself.

OK black smoke is not pleasant nor environmentally friendly,But if it was just a belch,as is often the case,this is so much more environmentally friendly when compared to badly serviced or very high mileage vehicles.

The black belch is merely an over rich mixture because the turbo cannot spool up as quickly as the fuel is injected,and only happens on pull off.

Where as so many vehicles pollute highly all day and go unnoticed .
