I'm sure that anne2, being in the health business, wouldn't recommend a dubious supplier, and the Brighton firm, being in the UK and thus European probably won't flag anything up at customs. I wonder what method they use for shipment - anything other than post office I would be careful.
Because, it could rather depend on what the Italian authorities consider 'dubious'. I had a slightly costly experience ordering some herbal supplement stuff from the US to be shipped into Italy. The value was about $20, so when FedEx demanded €80 for the 'sdoganamento' (customs clearance), plus the €4 or so (20%IVA), plus the €2 or so (10% import duty) PLUS another €4 or so for the ASL (health authority) 'approval' even though the supplement was not labelled a medicine....well, it seemed easier just to cut my losses! So, that experience (apart from never use FedEx into Italy) flags up for me a legitimate concern: there are probably drugs approved for UK use which are not approved in Italy - (if for no other reason than that the Italian health authorities have made a huge effort to get generic rather than brand name drugs prescribed). Or maybe they are OTC in the UK and not in Italy. I don't want to dissuade you from buying medicinal drugs in the UK - (for sure the Italian pharmacies bring a whole new meaning to the word 'rip-off') - but I would be interested to hear from people who have successfully ordered and had delivered products from an European (ex-Italy) online pharmacy. |

Thanks Charles. Sorry to hear about your bad Fed Ex experience - it would be interesting to know as to how they arrived at the huge fee for customs clearance etc ! We have used expresschemist on a couple of occasions without any problems. They do use the normal post office system and goods are shipped in unmarked brown boxes so there is nothing to draw attention as to what may be lurking inside. They have always seemed to provide a professional and efficient service so I suspect do not stock anything that might be regarded as dubious - even by the Italian authorities! Admittedly I have not examined their product list in great detail and have no idea as to the complete list of drugs/supplements approved here in Italy - OTC or otherwise. But yes, you are quite right to highlight the fact that the Italians are very protective of their rip off system - it is slowly changing now that supermarkets can have a pharmacy counter. I guess, if in doubt check with expresschemist - they should be able to give an infromed answer. Last edited by anne2; 16-07-08 at 09:08 PM.. |

They do state that some products cannot be shipped to certain countries, so as I said in the previous post, if in doubt check, there is a qualified pharmacist responsible for all orders. If they have concerns re a particular order they will contact the buyer to check the facts.
~Ordering Medicines In order for our pharmacists to provide you with the best possible healthcare, you may be presented with a series of questions when ordering certain medicines. These will be read by one of our pharmacists before your order is shipped. These are a legal requirement and must be completed with as much accuracy as possible. We may contact you to amend the order if any medicine is deemed unsuitable for the purposes stated. We are restricted from sending some products to certain countries. We must also limit the quantity of certain pharmaceuticals ordered within a time-period. If you have any questions concerning this please let us know. Are you sure you really wanted to answer the question!! (Accurately)
Isn't it the just most perfect gift for the person 'who has everything'! Next quiz question is how many of these ridiculous items are in the possession of Donald Trump! |

This one is also worth checking out. Compared the price for what I had ordered from the earlier post and the product was £2 cheaper, plus shipping cost about 50% less.
Had a good review in the Times as well. Chemist Direct UK's Online Pharmacy, Discounted Medicines/Tablets/Prescriptions, Perfumes/Fragrances, Beauty &, Electrical Products & Gifts - Buy Online How I made it: Mitesh Soma, Founder of Chemistdirect.co.uk - Times Online |
