There is an extra bonus in his proposal. It will be very difficult for demonstrators to stage any protest as it has been the case in the past. No doubt, he is clever.

Abruzzo hosts the Mediterranean Games at the end of June and some of the sports venues in L’Aquila are presently being used as tentopoli.

The fact that the media spotlight will be on Abruzzo may be the best incentive for the reconstruction to be made a priority.

In the past it has taken years for people to be re-housed and for the funds to be made available, lets hope it will not be the same this time.

Abruzzo is a big place and much of it has not been affected by earthquake damage, but even so many businesses will suffer if the tourists don’t come so anything, which boosts the local economy and the morale of the people here has to be a good thing.
