| Italian Politics Berlusconi or Prodi - or someone else for a change? Should the Partito Democratico go ahead and what exactly is Padoa Schioppa trying to achieve. All these and more now have their own dedicated space to be discussed |

Dear "adriatica",
the title of your thread is obviously not updated. Better to start a thread with title " Prodi is the Prime Minister ". Im sure you agree and if not you surely Napolitano does. |

of course i can not agree with you... the government resigned there is no government....so therefore no prime minister...
what is about to happen is that they will form a new government with a new prome minister... that they happen to be all the same people is by the way... everything is exactley the same apart from the fact that they have backed down from any conflictual reforms... and now there 300 page mandate which people in italy voted in this government on...at least some of the people have a new government which will elect itself on a new 12 point plan...which being the courageous types they are does not include any mention of any new civil ceremonies to allow couples here to have their rights formalised because they are running scared of the vatican...that does not allow any pacifist thoughts or controversial views over american policy because they are also scared of that...and will include a minister that made a public statement before this lost vote that if it didnt pass he at least would be going home...but then D'alema is running pretty true to form on lies as he was the one that against the italian constitution had bombs dropped in the past... and took over from Prodi the last time... and proved himself even more of the peacock than he likes to think of himself.... a sad dishonourable day for ialian politics i think... and the president reflected this in his statement when he stated he had no other choice than to refer this band of ... disparent and self seeking politicos(my words not his) back to the parliament to vote on a confidence motion... confident i gues in the fact of there e15000 a month salary.... being continued at least for another few months... to me a sad day for a democracy holding its dirty laundry up for all to see... basically confirming notions abroad of the italian mentality |

Don't worry Adriatica even if Mr Mortadella worms his way back in, it will last 6 months at the most and we will be back to square one.
When even radio 24 are making fun and playing circus tunes when they speak of the whole pantomime it does little in promoting Italy's image abroad. It's a laughing stock or at least it would be if it weren't such a serious matter. The blob now needs all the people who voted against him to vote for him. ![]()

its the senate vote today... which because its a confidence vote he will most probably win... in fact he has had to call on votes of confidence on all the issues tackled so far and has created another record in that sense as well ... he really does not have a safe majority in the so called higher house...
the camera is on Friday where he does hold a majority... can understand the confusion over dates of what and when because it has been moved backwards and forwards to take account of hospitalised or absent foreign representatives to make sure all are there... i think then it was moved to today to try and wrong foot the opposition... maybe they had someone not around... i think its all back to normal again tonight ... the vote on afghanistan in two weeks will be where it will all start to get interesting again |

So Mr Blobby has wormed his way back in thanks to all his old pals changing their minds----add to that the turncoats and we have caos for another few months. If he last's that long.
