Default Italian Industrial Action - the cyber way

Press Release this am:

TUC backs 'virtual reality' union protest
Unions across the globe will be setting up the first ever cyber-picket line in Second Life - the virtual reality world - tomorrow (Thursday) as Italian IBM workers protest against their employer's decision to slash bonuses worth up to 1,000 Euros each.

IBM conducts a significant amount of business in Second Life, reportedly investing $10million in virtual worlds this year, and its staff are very technology literate, making this unusual method of action directly relevant to the dispute.

Choosing to echo the ongoing real-world campaign in virtual reality has brought IBM's union committee RSU (Rappresentenza Sindacale Unitaria) significant international publicity, and allowed linkups with IBM workers from many other countries, including the UK and India.

Ooops - sorry.

Anyway, didn't really see it as a time-specific thing. More that since we are all interested in Italy and use the web I thought the idea of an Italian cyber-picket would be of interest

not sure about the cyber part but this month there are going to be lots of strikes here... i sometimes post those coming up... but there are so many due this month and they go through them so quickly on the news i cannot remember what and dates...however it will include on various dates, public transport, justice of the peace, the garages...three days of that... and public sector workers amongst those i recall... there is also talk of a national strike coming along because of the welfare plans...

i think airports or al italia are in there somewhere too...or both... but cannot be sure.... although it would not be suprising
