After an almost unforgivably long time the Grand Tour is now complete with all 20 regions and all the relevant subforums.
Of course, this was the easy part. The challenge is to now make this a resource that the community will be able to find useful 2,3, 4 years from now. Italy Magazine has, finally, set aside dedicated resources to focus on growing this part so you can expect us to be taking a much more active part than what was possible in the past to help along. Call for Participation Of course, the first thing required, are people adding their local knowledge. So please join in - the more information there is the more people will participate and the more useful it will be for all of us. It could be as simple as your favourite restaurant, or as complicated as an analysis of local planning laws! Call for Moderators To help the process along we are asking anyone interested to step forward and take a region of the Grand Tour under their wing. They will be given moderator rights on that region which means that they can edit, move, threads, posts, etc to make sure that the information with the region is accessible and useful. Iona - who was once a moderator in these forums - has kindly agreed to undertake the role of coordinator for the entire Italy Grand Tour forum. So just send me or Iona a PM with which region you would like to adopt and any ideas you have about what to do for that particular region. This is an inclusive not an exclusive process so there can be more than one or two moderators for each region if there are enough people wanting to join in. |

This is going to be an awesome font of local knowledge and will I'm sure, over the coming years, become a certain 'stopping off' point for many new and existing travellers throughout the Italy we all love so much.
Thank you.

Can anybody help or explain here - please?
I would like to add some posts on one of the Grand Tour forums (Lombardia), and I have been trying to check out the kind of items/articles that were on the pre 'new' Grand Tour forums - like Toscana, Emiglia Romagna and Abruzzo - to give me an idea of the expected type, content and level of any contributions. But I find that a number of posts have been deleted - is this normal? If a post is not 'up to par' can the moderator just delete it? If this is the case, would it be possible to have some kind of guidelines on what is expected if someone wishes to post on the new forums please?

posts should be removed if they are off topic, violate the house rules in some other way or are plain innacurate. Once the moderating team is all together we can discuss a more extensive set of guidelines and make it public across the Grand Tour forums. In the meantime, I would say Carole by all means share our expertise! Best, Ronald |

The moderator team for the Grand Tour is growing and we now have reps for Abruzzo, Piedmont, Tuscany and Liguria but more are needed - on Monday I will introduce those that have already joined in and together we will try and set up a set of guidelines for the Grand Tour but more people are needed to make the effort a success so please join in. It will not take up a lot of your time (I would estimate no more than 30 minutes in a week) and would be a great way to hook up with all the people interested in your favorite area.
Best, Ronald |
