You are lucky if you get a reply to an enquiry within 3 days and it takes forever to get an order confirmation. The kitchens from both Germany and Italy are very nice but the Italian delivery process is awful. You don't get a specific delivery date which makes booking the fitters in for clients impossible and they send one man on a truck with loads of retailers' kitchens jam packed in. Totally unprofessional. Remedials also take a lifetime. So to summarise, the Italian manufacture of furniture is very good, every other aspect of the service is pathetic.

I can understand your frustration but would like to add that in my experience the Germans are not blameless. We have recently had a high spec German kitchen fitted and were not impressed with many aspects of the German method of operation. Several units arrived damaged because they were inadequately packaged. The microwave carcass initially came in an incorrect size and has subsequently been remade three more times; each time the size or colour was incorrect and we eventually used the first cabinet having to adapt the microwave.

We are now still waiting for two end panels which have been made to the incorrect size FOUR times. Each time there is an error it takes a minimum of a 10 days to get the problem "rectified".

So the result is we have a kitchen that was supposed to have been fitted by 7 August still not complete today.

Germans perfect? I think not!

Default Kitchen

We got our kitchen done by Marini in Servigliano recommended by Jimmy & Conchetta at Contrada Durano. Really pleased with the kitchen, the service (eg we wanted some drawers switching round and it was done in a couple of days) and the price.

Reading this thread just now brought back horrible memories. When I split up with my Italian husband (we were living in London at the time) he remained in the family home until forceably removed by the bailiffs so that the house could be sold and I could buy something else for myself and children with my half of the proceeds. He persuaded the bailiff to allow him to return that evening with a van in order to remove all his belongings and a neighbour agreed to act as key keeper and lock up after he had gone. Can you imagine my dismay when the neighbour phoned me (I didn't live in London by that time) to say that he had taken out the whole kitchen and she had been unable to stop him. Needless to say the house was sold for a lot less than it was worth, and certainly less than the value of the removed units and machines because it looked so awful.
