Default Heston Blumenthal spotted in Amandola

Hi

My husband has just made a very quick visit to check on our builders. He stayed at the Paradiso in Amandola. Sitting on the next table at breakfast was Heston Blumenthal - for those who don't know of him he is one of the top (if not the top) chefs working in the UK winning awards (many of which he won year after year) for chefs' chef, best restaurant in UK, second best restaurant in the world, three michelin stars etc etc.

He was with a bloke and then another one joined them. Anyone know what he's doing there (could be filming for one of tv series or something ???)

Chris

Chris how exciting! My husband hero worships our Heston - being a chemist he loves all that science. We realy enjoyed his series on the 'perfect' fish n chips, steak etc..
Cant see Amandola as a perfect location for a Fat Duck type of restaurant though, can you see the locals listening to the sounds of the sea from a shell as they eat a fish foam? Or taking to a fizzy fruit course? Tee.

Default Update

Meeting with Stefano Lucozzi this afternoon resulted in an update - apparently he's in the area filming (the guy form the paradiso told Stefano last night) - I assume i will be part of a series on italy - one to watch out for!

Apparently he was going to spend a day with one of the top butchers in S Marche - supplies Harrods and the like. However when he asked for E500 expenses the TV company refused to pay it. Cheapskates - they expect anyone to be so excited by appearing on TV that they'll do it for nothing and take the losses

Hi Anne
That's interesting & the whole subject of tv comapanies not paying is very common (the other one is making promises before you film & then not delivering or paying). I'd love to know which butcher it is as when we spend August in our house for the first time I'm hoping to find good local produce.

£2.80 for 500 grams! I thought robbers wore masks.

We were in the butchers in the old town of Loro Piceno last week and he said that Heston had been in. We were not quite sure whether to believe him or not as he was a little eccentric.... worth popping in for the vinocotto show if you have not been there before!
