Question Buying a house on Procida

Hi,
I have just put a deposit on a small appartment on Procida(NA) only to be told by the agent that because l'm not an EU citizen (l'm Australian) l have to obtain a special permit to buy in this "border" zone which can take a long time to get.The agent is currently trying to find the quickest way to obtain permission but l would greatly appreciate any thoughts or experiences of this process, thanks Andrew

Hi Ugo thanks for the information, but my interpretation of Articolo 28 (c) (1):'A ragioni di interesse nationale o in adempimento alle leggi in vigore in ciasun Paese ',is that perhaps the Italian govt. considers it in the national interest to apply this restriction on non EU citizens including Australians. The staff at the Italian consulate in Melbourne certainly considered that the restriction applied to Australians. Thanks again Andrew

Default Buying a house on Procida

Hi Ugo,yes l know that Australians can buy houses in Italy , except if that area is a designated border zone which is the case with the islands in the bay of Naples. There is an Italian defense department map showing these zones, thanks Andrew
