I just collected my visitors and they were so angry that at Birmingham airport they put a £1 coin in the trolly and couldn't see where to take the trolley back to - they were told - just leave it where it is, you won't get your money back anyway.
They tell me that until last week the trolleys were free.. In Italian Airports you pay €1 but it is refunded when you return the trolley!. Wonder if other airports are picking up on Birmingham's example? Does greed know no bounds... ![]() ![]() |

We were walking to the longstay carpark at Liverpool and walked by the taxi rank - there is a £1 airport levy which has to be paid by the passenger - never heard of that one either! Guess the only solution to that is to book a minicab to meet you in the drop off zone (which is currently free for the first 10 minutes)

Reminds me of the brilliant Tom Hanks film where a poor guy is trapped at the airport because his country no longer existed or some such...he lived off the coins in the trolleys.....I expect at Birmingham someone is benefitting too. Amazing how it mounts up...............
