Taxi in Rome
On my second trip to Rome, I saw the sleazier side first thing. Our taxi driver (LH 4477) charged us 25 euros for a trip that should have cost 10 euros.
If you are going to a hotel, have the hotel people there when you pay so they can pass on the charges.

Another way to avoid this kind of thing is to arrange a price before you actually get in the taxi.
We have used taxis several times in Rome and have managed to avoid being 'rooked' with this method. Welcome to the forum  Moxie (and him)
