Good enough to say I don't quite believe a word of it!

. That picture could of been taken anytime within the last 20 or so years, as that runway has been there that long.

It was put there by the heads of Agip, for their head honchos to fly in, to see their site which was next door, until they jumped sticks.
As far as we know, this money thats been *cough* allocated , is to lengthen the runway to accommodate bigger planes, as well as build airport infrastructure, such as terminal, car-parks, etc.

It would be very useful, if once finished, companies like Ryanair, etc are able to fly to here. But this being Italy , it might just be ready in time for my great-grand kids to use.

Of course I believe it will be open in 2009 :)
All we have to do now is persuade Ryanair to fly there..

With 90 seater planes maximum allowed and some gardeners on-board, as it is still all overgrown...
