Default Places to visit on a honeymoon

Hi, I have booked a weeks honeymoon near Castiglione della Pescaia.

Would anyone recommend any local places to go and see, or things to do, perhaps there are some loval events on which would be good to go to.

Are there any surrounding towns that are worth visitng. I would like to spend a day in Florence too, are there any restaurants in particular worth visiting?.

Thanks.

Secret Honeymoon Booker (can't let the misses find out!)

You will find quite a bit of information at

Comune di Castiglione della Pescaia - Sito Ufficiale

As for restaurants in Florence, there has been quite a few recommendations in the past. Do a little search under restaurants Florence.

Best wishes

Volterra is a beautiful town (but perhaps I'm biased as I got married there). One thing my husband did for me when we went back to Tuscany for out first anniversary was to book me in for some treatments at the spa in Casciana Terme. There are several spas around Tuscany and I'm telling you you would go down as the best husband in the world for booking her some nice relaxing treatments after the stress of the wedding (if she says she doesn't want to marry you any more 2 days before the wedding she's probably lying but is so fed up of the whole thing that it seems like the solution just not to do it!)- you can also probably book day passes for the 2 of you for the thermal pools (you can in Casciana) so you can chill out while waiting for her. Prices were much cheaper than the UK

I'd suggest making a day trip in to liguria, go and visit lerici, walk under the castle and find the hidden beach there (Im getting looks from the mrs as she thinks it's better to keep it a secret, however for a honeymooning couple it's need-to-know if you ask me.)

Lerici is a beauty. We went there again on our recent trip. Actually, we always go there whenever we are at Bagni.

The whole area around Castiglione is beautiful. Not just round the corner but just up the coast, Populonia and the golfo di baratti is stunning and a fascinating place to visit. And of course, Elba is a great day trip on the ferry from Piombino.

Hi

If you haven't already booked have a look at the Arezzo area. Less than an hour to Florence, Siena, Cortona, Montepulciano, etc. Lovely 'normal' Italian town, with plenty of history (before Florence and Siena!!) and far fewer tourists. Also great transport links - can even get to Rome in 1.15 hr.

Default Arezzo

Hi Aretina
I agree about Arezzo - it's a very underrated place. It's lovely. Lots going on.

I've got good memories of it from last summer.
