Default British Wedding At Bagni Di Lucca

I was checking on the local news published by the Comune and I saw that a British couple from Birmingham were married by the Mayor last Saturday at the Circolo dei Forestieri.
The Comune is obviously very proud about this event and they wish to have more British couples marrying in the area. For Catholics, there is a beautiful romanic church at San Pietro di Corsena which will make a fantastic venue.
Here you have the information about the wedding:

There seems to be a British wedding nearly every month here in Barga.

I know Barga has always had a strong Scottish connection due to emigration but Bagni Di Lucca had, I believe, a British colony in the past?
What a beautiful part of the world to start your married life!

Yes, it is true what you said, I noticed the Scottish links in Barga, however, Bagni di Lucca has lost many of the links it used to have with the UK during the golden days of the town. They are trying to revive those by making the 31st of May a friendship day between the British and Bagni di Lucca and honouring British poets and writers who have resided in the ares. But weddings.... it looks as if this is the first one for the century, hence all the publicity.
As you say, both Barga and Bagni di Lucca are lovely places for weddings. Very romantic.

Default Bagni di Lucca wedding

The wedding you're referring to was mine!
We had the most wonderful, special day and was delighted we made it into 2 local papers.
Planning the event wasn't easy, but luckily we have a house in Granaiola, Bagni di Lucca so we had a link with the town. I am now in the process of setting up my own wedding planning service for Bagni di Lucca weddings. I've looked at many websites for wedding planing services in Italy but they are all very pricey and very grand. I want to offer a more personal, authentic experience in a small beautiful town that won't cost the earth!
Any questions, please feel free to ask...

Hi Primavera! This is a small world! I read the news about your wedding when I checked the Comune webpage as I regularly do to keep informed of local news when I am away.
First of all, congratulations on the wedding and my very best wishes.
I also think that it is a good idea to set up your own wedding planning service for Bagni di Lucca, it is a beautiful town and I think that anyone getting married there will get a very genuine Italian wedding that will not cost the earth, just as you said it. The Circolo dei Forestieri is a lovely place and for those who are Catholics, San Pietro di Corsena is a beautiful place, very old and romantic. I saw the church all decorated for a formal wedding and it looks superb. I have some contacts which may be helpful there, just send me a PM if you wish details.
Best wishes with your project.

Smile Wedding Bagni de Lucca

Hi Primavera.

Congratulations on your wedding and best wishes for the future. I was wondering if you decided to go ahead with your plans of becoming a wedding planner in the area. I got engaged in Bagni de Lucca this summer and we were hoping to return to have the wedding there in summer 2010. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

...and I'll continue my own campaign in Italy to make Wedding Planners operate, as they should according to most of the wedding planner associations, without a 'kickback scheme' from their vendors. No doubt, you're one of the good guys/gals Primavera - however I'd estimate that many of the wedding planners in Italy operate in an extremely dubious manner & certainly not with their clients' best interests at heart.

Default Congratulations

Hi Primavera
I have just joined this fantastic website as my husband and I are planning to spend next year in Italy, travelling, working and potentially looking for our future home. I am very interested in becoming, as you say a more personal wedding planner, a friend recentely got married in Italy and the organisation was a realy nightmare for her. If you didn't mind, i would love to hear any updates on how you are getting on? Congratulations and good luck!

Default Photogrpahers

Hi
I'm looking for photographers in the Bagni di Lucca area, English speaking is essential. I'm arranging a wedding for a couple who need a photographer, but need to keep costs to a minimum.
Any advice or contacts would be grately appreciated.
Many Thanks
