Hi everyone! So glad to find this forum hoe ye can help us! We are getting married five months from today just outside Siena!
We have a wedding planner but somethings seem very dear if we book through her. We are looking for a dj or even dj equipment as my H2B is a dj and could do the music? Also as I'm Irish I will be in need of fake tan. Do ye do spray tans in Italy? Thanks so much Sj |

I would advise you not to have a fake tan unless you have tried it first. You may end up with a terrible artificial skin colour.
Anyway, what is wrong with fair skin? It looks great with white clothes. Don't you think Nicole Kidman looks superb and her skin is so delicate.... and she never sunbakes or has any kind of tan. |

You could try a product like Johnstone's Holiday Sun where the tan builds up gradually over a long period. Anyway the wedding is not for another five months, so grab a holiday before then or go out a couple of days before, and if that's not possible, well a solarium. I tend to agree with you that being white and wearing a white dress presumably, in the height of an Italian summer might make you feel very uncomfortable.
Anyway a very warm welcome to the Forum and keep in touch. Buona Fortuna per le nozze |

Where are you getting married exactly? There's a beauty parlour at Etrusco in Chiusi (by the A1) where they apply fake tans. I've never had one agreeing with Gala that pale is far more interesting (even if my Italian girlfriends disagree most strongly) but you can certainly have them applied professionally. Alternatively, can you manage to arrive a week early and sunbathe for a bit in advance? If you're getting married in June weather should be lovely and sunny.

Thank you all so much for your replys greatly appreciated! Unfortunately i dont speak Itlaian so couldnt understand one of them sorry!
My dress is ivory so i would be more comfortable with a tan! We'll be arriving late on the tuesday night and getting married on the Friday so I wont have time for a trail. Im wondering about hair and make up price is very expensive through wedding planner but was hoping myself three bridesmaids and two mothers could all get make up and hair done! Any suggestions would be brilliant! None of us would feel confident enough to do it ourselves for such a big day! We are staying in Villa Curina their address is Castelnuovo Berardenga but when we visited in October we actually didnt get to see the town itself but fell in love with the Villa and the church Pontignano! Thank you all again so much |

My experience as a photographer of 'fake tans' is not a good one. In short, don't do it for your wedding unless you absolutely have no choice. Sunburn is however even worse - especially if you're still at the red stage. Being in Italy even for those couple of days before-hand could give you a wonderful red nose which photographs beautifully - so just be sensible. Stay in the shade, get some colour slowly and naturally and accept the fact that you'll at least look normal on your photographs rather than an alien, shade of orange or bright red.
