Does anyone know if it is possible to get married in your house or garden? My future daughter in law wants a civil wedding in our garden - is it dependant upon the local commune?

Hi Lynne,
Italian law states that a civil wedding may only be celebrated in a structure belonging to the local comune and open to the public. Private houses and gardens are out I'm afraid.

Hi Lynne,
That does not mean that you have to give up on the idea of a civil wedding ceremony outdoors. Many comunes do hold such ceremonies and they are legal. For example Malcesine Castle see Urlaub Malcesine am Gardasee for some planners offering this service. Also a wonderful old villa in Gradara Le Marche also have a special deal with one planner to do weddings outdoors in the cloisters of the villa. Just google gradara weddings. Good luck and hope you get what you are looking for for your daughter's big day.
