We are proud to introduce you to TuscanWings. We are the first flight company in Tuscany that was developed for the sole purpose of showing tourists the beautiful side of our region, and the parts of Tuscany that you’ve never heard about or experienced before!


The idea behind TuscanWings first came about a few years ago, and was conceptualized and founded by Francesco Illuminati, the owner and pilot. Francesco is also the owner of the Foresteria il Giardino di Fontarronco (www.foresteria.it), a fantastic agriturismo/farm-house hotel in Tuscany. A few years a group of Canadian pilots stayed at the Foresteria, and quickly bonded with Francesco, as they all shared the passion and hobby of flying. The pilots asked Francesco if they could do a flight to see Tuscany. Once onboard, the group of three decided they wanted to see the most famous sites in Tuscany – Cortona, Siena, Montepulciano, and Montalcino. However this was no ordinary tourist visit; this was an unprecedented visit to these famous sites … from the air!


Francesco is still the sole pilot, and will guide you personally on your trip over Tuscany, explaining the historical and modern significances of the sites seen from above.


Tuscany’s landscape – with its hill-encompassed trails, its unique and vibrant colors, its medieval villages and architecture, its lakes, its coasts, its mountains – can be truly felt and experienced when viewed from above. Few people ever have the chance to experience this spectacular perspective of one of the world’s most romantic and historic landscapes.

Whether you are looking for a long trip or a short overview, we will work with your requests to make sure that the trip is memorable. Our pilot, Francesco Illuminati, will be your guide and driver, as he pilots the plane and simulatenously gives you detailed information along the way.

At Foresteria il Giardino di Fontarronco, the agriturismo owned by Francesco Illuminati, we usually hold the briefing for the trip, showing you the route on a map, so that once you are in the air, you will have your bearings and understand your surroundings. For guests of the Foresteria, there will be a complimentary gift upon your return to the agriturismo, after your flight.
