Ristorante Puccini, Lucca

Location: Lucca, Tuscany | Topic: Property Review
Words by Carla Passino

An established restaurant in the heart of Lucca is available for sale complete with furniture and furnishings

Foodie buyers looking for an investment or a change in lifestyle have a rare chance to buy an established restaurant in Lucca.

Situated inside the city walls, next the house where Giacomo Puccini was born, Ristorante Puccini has a reputation for serving excellent fish and seafood, attracting a clientele of locals and visitors alike.
It is an atmospheric place where vaulted ceilings, gilded mirrors and chandeliers meet parquet floors, sinuous screens and contemporary chairs. The kitchen itself is a work of art to match the many paintings that decorate the dining room’s walls—it was made and fitted by Angelo Po, one of the best-known professional kitchen manufacturers in Italy.

The elegant dining room, which is housed in a 17th century building, seats forty people, but could seat up to 80. An outside patio overlooking Puccini’s house has another ten tables. There’s also a bar area, a walk-in fridge and a temperature controlled wine cellar.

All furniture and furnishings are included in the sale except the paintings and a piano. The wine stock is not included either, but is available by separate negotiation (as is the piano and some of the paintings). The restaurant comes with a staff of four—a chef, a manager/sommelier, and 2 waitresses—who could continue working under the new ownership.

“The Ristorante Puccini is located in the heart of Lucca, a city which, in the last ten years, has seen a vast increase in mass affluent tourism,” says current owner Leonardo Calò, who explains his company is selling the place for personal reasons. “The area around the soon-to-be-reopened Puccini house is a focal point for Lucca, one of its most visited corners. The restaurant is closely linked, both as a concept and for its aesthetic, to that kind of clientele. This is not a trattoria, it requires a project and professional work—and we are able to leave there a group of professionals.”

I have no doubts that this is

I have no doubts that this is a very charming place, it's purely Italian and that says everything but I can't help from thinking what a huge success would a restaurant like this have in New York. I should check the business listings for Italian restaurants New York NY, no doubt they are easy to find but what I am really interested in is that pure Italian style and atmosphere.
