This year's Italian wine harvest will be 10% higher, making up for last year' losses, The Italian Wine Union (UIV) said Tuesday.

The 2007 crop was the poorest for 60 years.

UIV carried out a survey of vineyards in the first ten days of July, helped by the research agency ISMEA.

Italy's wine harvest kicks off on August 1.
