Although best known for hosting the Festival of Two Worlds, this medieval city in the Umbrian hills will host the third edition of Wines in the World, a unique meeting place for the consumer and the producer.

The mayor of the hilltop Perugian town of Spoleto was attacked on Tuesday by a deranged elderly man who slashed him with a knife. Mayor Massimo Brunini was in the middle of a council meeting when an 88-year-old local, Terzilio Corinti, broke in, hurled a sack at him and slashed him in the stomach with a small kitchen knife.

Following the example of Rome's 'Notte Bianca' (White Night) all-night street celebration, Spoleto has organised an all-night celebration of wine and food.
