A concert by Elton John in Trani [Puglia] may be cancelled because the Roman Catholic Church objects to his sexuality.
The concert date has already been changed from 23rd to 22nd September and now the event it is to be relocated as well: Originally scheduled to take place in the Cathedral Square, the concert will probably, instead, take place in the square of the Colonna Monastery, a mile from the city centre.
The Monastery itself is now used as a venue for cultural events.
Monsignor Giacomo Babini, the retired Bishop of Grosseto, has said that it would be “inappropriate, blasphemous and offensive” to allow John to sing so near a church because he is “gay and depraved”.
What would you like to say to monsignor Babini on this issue?
Villa beautifully renovated XVI century € 1500000
Case Bardi - Hilltop House 9B € 450000
Better a paedophile inside the Church, that a gay on its stairs
Bishop Babini should be denounced to some international Tribunal, as he has a custom of verbally gay bashing. I would tell him that evidently the Roman Catholic Church prefers to have several paedophile priests inside itself, rather than a gay singer on the stairs of one of its thousand churches. Oh well, tell Babini that also Italy is in XXI century, and actions as these put the country at pair with Iran.
